Steven Izzo scored his first career points as a Spartan on Sunday afternoon and both players and fans went crazy.
In case you missed it, Steven Izzo scored his first basket for Michigan State Sunday afternoon against Rutgers. Steven wowed the Breslin Center crowd, crossing up his defender and finishing a tough layup with the foul. He also went on to hit the free throw giving himself three points for the game.
As you can imagine, the Breslin Center went absolutely wild when he hit this shot. It sounded like Steven hit a game-winner and not a layup to extend the MSU lead to 20. Fans and the Izzone lost their minds and Steven’s teammates rushed him on the court. He also went over to his dad, Tom Izzo to give him a hug before heading to the free throw line — once AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker let him go, of course.
There were so many reactions that you just can’t miss as a Spartan fan. Thankfully we have you covered with all the angles of the many reactions.
Here are different angles of the reactions to Steven’s first basket as a Spartan, including his teammates, fans, the Izzone, and Tom Izzo.

The last thing I’ll say about this play is that I’m happy Steven Izzo made an actual field goal instead of his only points being free throws. Scoring any points I’m sure would’ve been special for him, but scoring a legit basket probably makes this moment so much better.
This bucket has been five years in the making and undoubtedly was the highlight of the Spartans’ 73-55 win over Rutgers.
