Why Justin Fields is confident 0-4 Jets can turn things around

Multiple New York Jets players understandably couldn't hide their frustrations while speaking with reporters shortly after the club fell to 0-4 on the season via a 27-21 loss at what was a winless Miami Dolphins side this past Monday night.

On Wednesday, quarterback Justin Fields suggested the 2025 Jets aren't all that far away from righting the ship this fall.

Justin Fields names what Jets must "clean up" after four straight losses

"We've lost three games by one score," Fields said, per Susanna Weir of the Jets' website. "So, I think that's a positive to look at. I think if we clean up turnovers, penalties -- that's definitely going to put us in a better position to secure those wins instead of saying 'we're close' and this and that."

In Week 1 of the campaign, Chris Boswell of the Pittsburgh Steelers kicked a 60-yard field goal with 63 seconds remaining in regulation that propelled Pittsburgh to a 34-32 win over the Jets. On Sept. 21, the Jets were victims of a walk-off field goal at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

That said, Gang Green wasn't merely unlucky in Miami. The visitors committed 16 penalties and had 13 fouls accepted for 101 yards during that defeat, and the Jets also committed three turnovers at Hard Rock Stadium.

How is Jets locker room handling the team's losing streak?

It took just four games for first-year Jets head coach Aaron Glenn to find himself on the receiving end of criticism from outsiders questioning if he is the right man for his job. Meanwhile, it's no secret the Jets can escape Fields' contract as soon as next offseason.

For now, Fields is focusing on what the Jets could accomplish during this coming Sunday's home game against the 1-2-1 Dallas Cowboys.

"It's my job as a quarterback of this team, as one of the captains and as one of the leaders of this team to make sure everybody feels that in the locker room," Fields added about staying positive amid the Jets' losing streak. "So, I talked to the guys after the game on Monday night and kind of expressed that to them and how I kind of felt. I think everybody in this locker room is in good spirits. We're ready to get back to work this week and go out there on Sunday and play ball."

As of Thursday morning, ESPN BET had the Jets as 2.5-point underdogs against the Cowboys. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, no coach has ever started his Jets tenure with a record of 0-5.
