A South Carolina Gamecocks basketball player is making NBA history.
Sophomore forward Collin Murray-Boyles is one of 24 green room invitees to the NBA Draft. He's the first Gamecocks player in the program's history to get a green room invitation in the draft lottery era, according to Gamecocks Online. Since the NBA Draft format started in 1985, no South Carolina players have been selected in the lottery.
The NBA Draft will be televised live on Wednesday, June 25, at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC/ESPN. It will take place at the Barclays Center.
If drafted, Murray-Boyles would be the second player drafted under Lamont Paris.
Murray-Boyles was the first Gamecock to average at least 16 points and 8 rebounds per game since Jimmy Foster in 1983-1984, Gamecocks Online noted.
On April 15, Murray-Boyles announced that he was declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft, and wrote an emotional letter of thanks to the Gamecocks.
"Thank you for shaping me into the basketball player and, most importantly, the person I am today," he wrote. "South Carolina will always be home! I couldn't have gotten here without everyone who has been in my corner since day one."
