Arizona State Basketball just made its most eye-catching commitment of the offseason, adding Mor Massamba Diop, a 6’11” international center from Senegal who most recently starred in Gran Canaria’s youth and ACB systems.

The 20-year-old, who averaged 16.3 points and seven rebounds in his final season, brings high-end skill and untapped upside to the Sun Devils’ frontcourt.

Diop, listed at 6’9″ by some outlets but closer to 6’11” in recent scouting, played two seasons in Gran Canaria’s youth and reserve teams before featuring in Spain’s top-tier ACB and EuroCup rotations this season.

His per-game averages of 6.5 points on 63% shooting and 3.1 rebounds reflect efficient offensive skills and defensive growth. ESPN and various scouting outlets first broke news of his commitment via X (Twitter), and Arizona State quickly emerged as a top destination in a crowded international recruitment space.

For the Sun Devils, Diop is the kind of big man that fits coach Bobby Hurley’s vision: versatile, modern, and capable of stretching the floor. Standing at 7 feet with a soft touch, he provides interior depth, rim protection, and an international flavor that sets ASU’s class up to compete in the rapidly improving Big 12 landscape.

ASU’s staff will refine his game, polish his agility and post-play skills, and Diop’s experience in European competition gives him a maturity edge over many freshmen.

Arizona State’s recruitment of Mor Massamba Diop marks a significant step for the program, blending international pedigree with roster versatility. His addition could tip some matchups in ASU’s favor and highlight Tempe’s growing global identity within college basketball.
