Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, Duke and UCLA are all notorious college basketball programs, but on Wednesday, an unusual addition was made to that list.
The Temple Owls joined them as the sixth school in NCAA history to reach 2,000 wins in men's team history with a thrilling 62-61 victory over Davidson.

"Think about what you're a part of," head coach Adam Fisher told his players in the locker room after the game. "We don't have to create history; it's already been done for us. We just have to continue it."
The history-making win almost didn't happen. Junior Elijah Gray hit the game-winning layup with just seconds remaining in the game.
The ball dramatically hung on the rim for an extra second before it fell through the hoop and sent fans into a frenzy.

The Owls aren't the only relative newcomers to the 2,000-win club, believe it or not. UCLA currently has 2,017 wins, having reached the milestone in 2023.
Among the six teams on the list, Temple has the oldest men's basketball program, which launched in 1895. Kansas came next in 1898 but sits second all-time in wins with 2,401.
Syracuse would be the next program on deck to potentially eclipse the prestigious benchmark with 1,998 wins and counting. After that, Notre Dame (1,970) could follow in the next couple of years.
