Texas A&M senior guard Wade Taylor IV earned a spot on the All-SEC First Team, the conference announced Monday. Taylor scored 15.2 points per game and led the Aggies to a 22-9 overall record and an 11-7 record in SEC play.

This is the third straight season that Taylor has earned the honor, making him the first Aggie to make the All-SEC First Team three times. The senior guard broke Texas A&M’s all-time scoring record in Saturday’s regular season finale against LSU, capping off an excellent senior season. Taylor’s decorated career led to his jersey being raised to the rafters of Reed Arena after the Aggies’ win on Senior Night against Auburn. “I think he's the best player that's ever played here,” Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams said before the Senior Night win.

Along with averaging 15 points per game for the third straight season, Taylor tallied a career-high 4.3 assists per game. Taylor scored in double figures in 26 of the 27 games he appeared in and got off to a hot start in November. In the Players Era Festival tournament during Thanksgiving week, Taylor averaged 19 points and 4.3 assists in three games against power conference opponents. Taylor led the Aggies to a 2-1 record in the Las Vegas tournament.

Taylor also shined in SEC play, highlighted by scoring a season-high 25 points against South Carolina in February. Against the Gamecocks, Taylor shot 7-11 from the field, including 7-10 on 3-pointers, to lead the Aggies to a four-point road win. The seven 3-point field goals tied a career high for Taylor, as he also shot 7-10 from behind the arc in Texas A&M’s first round game in last year’s NCAA Tournament against Nebraska.

Each of the top five teams in the SEC standings earned a representative on the All-SEC First Team, including four point guards. Taylor is joined on the All-SEC First Team by Auburn forward Johni Broome, Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr., Alabama guard Mark Sears and Tennessee guard Zakai Ziegler. Broome also earned SEC Player of the Year while Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl was named SEC Coach of the Year.

Taylor will look to build on his legendary career with another deep run in the SEC Tournament. The Aggies made the championship game in 2022 and 2023 and reached the semifinals in 2024 but have not won the tournament since joining the SEC prior to the 2012-13 season. Taylor aims for his third straight SEC All-Tournament Team selection with a strong showing in Nashville. Texas A&M currently boast odds of +4000 to win the national title, according to Fanduel.

After this week’s SEC Tournament, the Aggies hope to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M has never made it past the Sweet 16. If Taylor can lead the Aggies to the Elite 8 for the first time, he would cement himself as one of the greatest Aggies ever.

The Aggies enter championship week ranked the 10th-best team in the nation according to Fanduel.
