Florida secured its third national title in men's basketball on Monday night with a 65-63 win over Houston. Despite trailing by as many as 12 points, the Gators fought back to topple the Cougars in the final minute of the game.
Star guard Walter Clayton Jr. had a down night with just 11 points on 3-of-10 from the floor and 1-of-7 from three. However, Will Richard stepped up and led the Gators with 18 points including four three-pointers. Alex Condon also scored in double figures with 12 points.
Legendary former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow – who led the Gators football team to national titles in 2006 and 2008 and won the 2007 Heisman Trophy – took to social media after the game in celebration of the win.
"What a game!" Tebow said on X (formerly Twitter). "So resilient. As always go gators".

Tebow was spot on. It really did take a resilient performance that allowed the Gators to overcome a 12-point deficit on the game's biggest stage.
The win was Florida's first national championship since the program won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. Coincidentally, those titles came during Tebow's time in Gainesville.
Tebow and the Gators have plenty to celebrate nearly two decades later. Todd Golden's team won its final 12 games this season including the six it took to run the table in the NCAA Tournament.
