Fresh off a national title, Florida head coach Todd Golden is already working to reload his roster—and a familiar name could be next in line.
Ohio University guard AJ Brown is scheduled to visit Florida on Tuesday, a source told 247Sports' Travis Branham.
The redshirt junior averaged 13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 assists per game last season for the Bobcats.
More importantly for Florida fans—he’s the older brother of Gators freshman guard Isaiah Brown.
A native of Orlando, Brown made major strides this past season, starting all 29 games he played in and becoming a consistent scoring threat.
He also significantly improved his shooting from deep, knocking down 38.8 percent of his threes (54-of-139) after shooting just 28.6 percent from long range the year before.
With Florida losing three of its best perimeter shooters—Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard—Brown could fill a much-needed role.
His ability to stretch the floor and defend multiple positions fits well with Golden’s system and the Gators’ need for experience in the backcourt.
Brown has become one of the more intriguing guards in the portal due to his development and efficiency, and he’s expected to make his transfer decision on Tuesday, April 22, according to his agent Robert Nieves of BAM Sports Agency.
If the Gators can lock in his commitment during the visit, it would be a timely addition to help offset some of their backcourt departures.
With strong ties to the program and a national championship to sell, Florida could be in a great spot.
