The Florida Gators definitely made a statement during the SEC Tournament. They went on an impeccable run en route to the conference championship after decimating the Tennessee Volunteers. Walter Clayton Jr. and the rest of the squad are looking confident for March Madness. Does Coach Todd Golden feel the same way?
This looks to be the case for the Florida head honcho. After they beat Tennessee with a score of 86-77, Coach Todd Golden made it known that the Gators are not playing around when it comes to their pursuit of a national championship, via the SEC Network.
They've gotten their first SEC Tournament championship since 2014 and their road is far from over.
"We're just getting started," were the words that the Florida coach chose to resound all over the world of college basketball.
Everyone on the Tennessee squad had a hard time when it came to defending the Gators. In fact, nearly everyone on the Vols' starting unit got into foul trouble which limited their ability to close the gap.
Despite the 24-point explosion from Jordan Gainey, Florida was able to hang on to their lead during the two halves. Clayton Jr. led the team in scoring with 22 points and four other Gators managed to score double-digit numbers. The list would have gotten extended to five people but Denzel Aberdeen fell short and just got nine points.
From the top of the Florida management all the way to their players, everyone seems eager to win March Madness. Will they win the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007?
