Top Transfer Portal Forward Lands in WCC at his Fifth School in Five Years

Barely a week after landing Wake Forest transfer guard Ty-Laur Johnson, Steve Lavin and the San Diego Toreros struck again - this time securing a commitment from well-travelled forward Bradley Ezewiro.

The move is pending a waiver from the NCAA for a fifth year of eligibility, although it is likely to be approved as the 6'8 forward only appeared in seven games as a freshman at LSU in 2021-22.

After that Ezewiro spent a year each at Georgetown, Saint Louis, and most recently with UAB, where he averaged 7.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 16.4 minutes per game.

The 6’9” forward appeared in 37 games, averaging 7.2 points, and 4.5 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per game.

The talent level in this transfer portal class for Lavin is undeniably the best he has had with the Toreros, although that's not saying much considering how infrequently he dipped into it until this offseason.

This year's group includes Johnson, who was regarded as the seventh best available transfer when he committed in early June, as well as Colorado forward Assane Diop, Ball State (and former Portland) guard Juanse Gorosito, NJIT forward Tim Moore, George State guard Toneari Lane, and Southern Utah guard Dominique Ford.

Diop was a solid contributor (and a big body) in the Big 12 while the others were all either double-figure scorers or, in Gorosito's case, shot over 40% from three on a high volume.

It's a solid class for USD, who will hope the newcomers make up for three critical losses in the portal in Jamerson (UCLA) Tony Duckett (Saint Mary's) and Santiago Trouet (Arizona State).
