On Monday afternoon, Johnny Dawkins and the UCF Knights added a big name in the transfer portal with a former McDonald’s All-American headed to campus.
Ole Miss forward John Bol is the latest player to join the Knights in Orlando after spending his freshman season on Chris Beard’s squad.
Last season with the Rebels, Bol hardly saw the court. He played 17 games at Ole Miss, averaging just 4.1 minutes per game. In that time frame, the South Sudan native recorded 1.1 points and 0.9 rebounds per game on 66.7% shooting from the field.
Coming out of Overtime Elite in the Class of 2024, Bol was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 57th-ranked player. He also checked in as the tenth-ranked player at his position and the fifth-ranked player in the state of Missouri.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in the 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
