Watch: No. 13 Baylor hits 2OT buzzer-beater to edge No. 22 St. John's

No. 22 St. John's was literally seconds away from pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the young college basketball season on Thursday.

Junior Zuby Ejiofor missed two crucial free throws at the end of double-overtime that would've iced the game for the Red Storm, already up 98-96.

But that gave Baylor senior Jeremy Roach just enough time to run the length of the court and get off a game-winning three point shot to help edge the No. 13 Bears to a dramatic 99-98 victory.

Roach's 20 points were good for second-best on the team, but it was his final three that mattered the most.

Baylor was actually outplayed by St. John's, which outshot the Bears from three (58.3%) and from the field (54.8%).

But it was at the free throw line where the real difference was made. Baylor made nearly 61% of its charity strip shots compared to 57% for St. John's.

The early-season ranked-on-ranked matchup was part of the Baha Mar Championship, a four-team non-conference tournament played in the Bahamas.

Baylor (4-1) now moves on to face the winner of the No. 11 Tennessee vs. Virginia game in the championship on Friday.

St. John's (4-1) will await the loser in the consolation game on the same date.
