The Mustangs pulled out a final second road win over the Cavaliers, 54-52. SMU led by seven with 5:09 to go but found themselves down by four with 18 seconds left in the game. Boopie Miller hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to one with nine seconds to go, and then after Virginia missed two free throws, it was a three by Miller that put the Mustangs up by two with 0.4 left on the clock. Miller finished the game with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a steal. Chuck Harris also had 12 points and Samet Yigitoglu added 10 points. Blake Buchanan was the spark plug for Virginia, finishing the game with 11 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal.
