Watch: Thrown water bottle almost hits Creighton bench, delays game

Late in the second half of the first-round matchup between 8-seed Louisville and 9-seed Creighton on Thursday, Kelsey was visibly frustrated and said something to a nearby official that prompted the technical to be assessed.

A fan apparently took offense to the call and threw the bottle on to the court, narrowly missing players on the Creighton bench.

The arena crew had to clean up the substantial spillage caused by the fan's disruption, delaying the the game for several minutes.

The CBS broadcast noted that security personnel promptly found and ejected the fan responsible.

Fans may remember during the college football season several instances of water bottles and debris being thrown onto playing fields after controversial calls.

Most notably in October, fans in Austin threw objects onto the field after a questionable defensive pass interference call was called on Texas in its game against Georgia.

Several other games after that point saw fans throwing things in response to unfavorable calls.

The incident Thursday was unfortunately an unsavory moment during the official start to March Madness.
