Zach Boyden-Holmes/The Register / USA TODAY NETWORK

Right before she makes her WNBA debut soon, Caitlin Clark lit the world up as the starting point guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes under Lisa Bluder. And with the head coach’s retirement, the Indiana Fever expressed her appreciation on social media.

Clark first entered the scene as the top high school prospect in 2020. Initially committed to Notre Dame, the guard changed her mind and joined Iowa instead. From there, she averaged 27.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists in her first NCAA Tournament as a freshman.

Over the following years, Clark established herself as the best player in women’s college basketball and one of the most talented scorers out there. She cemented her legacy a few months ago when the Hawkeyes star broke Pete Maravich’s old record to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.

However, Clark didn’t get the perfect conclusion to her college career after Iowa fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the championship round. Nevertheless, she went first in the 2024 WNBA Draft when the Indiana Fever selected her recently. Furthermore, Clark also secured big-time deals with Nike and Panini, making her one of the few female athletes to garner such popularity.

Lisa Bluder Receives Heartwarming Caitlin Clark Message After Iowa Hawkeyes Retirement

Just recently, Iowa Hawkeyes coach Lisa Bluder announced her retirement. In response, Clark posted her gratitude and appreciation on social media.

“Simply no one better at building a team… Thank you for believing in me more than anyone  Enjoy retirement, coach. Very much deserved,” Clark tweeted.

Bluder spent the last 24 years coaching the Hawkeyes, which totals to 40 seasons. She is also considered the women’s basketball head coach with the most wins in Big Ten history.

Without a doubt, Bluder will go down as one of the best coaches in college basketball. And with Clark about to prove her worth in the WNBA, her ascendance is proof of Bluder’s excellence throughout all the time she has spent as a coach.
