Caitlin Clark Delivers Passionate Message for Women’s Hoops Legends Ahead of WNBA Draft
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

After becoming the biggest name in college basketball, Caitlin Clark has set her sights on the WNBA Draft and becoming a pro. But before that, the Iowa Hawkeyes star delivered a passionate message for all the women who came before her and made the sport into what it is today.

Clark first made a name for herself as the top prospect of her high school class due to a tantalizing talent for scoring. After initially committing to Notre Dame, she changed her mind and chose Iowa instead.

From there, Clark made an impact for the Hawkeyes in her first year with the team. In the 30 games she played during that period, the Iowa star averaged 26.6 points on 40 percent shooting from deep, 5.9 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per contest.

This year, Clark’s final season playing for the Hawkeyes, was one for the books. Along with becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, the Iowa guard led her team to the championship round after a grueling March Madness gauntlet. And while they fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks, what she has done during her college basketball stint can’t be denied.

Iowa Hawkeyes Guard Caitlin Clark Drops Passionate Message for Women’s Hoops Stars Before WNBA Draft

Even before her college stint was done, Clark had already declared for the WNBA Draft. Just recently, though, the Iowa Hawkeyes guard guested on Saturday Night Live and delivered a message for all the female hoops legends that went before her, as seen in a post by ESPN on Instagram:

Along with Clark, other big names in women’s college basketball are expected to show up in the upcoming draft. These include the LSU Tigers’ Angel Reese , Stanford Cardinal’s Cameron Brink, South Carolina Gamecocks Kamilla Cardoso , and Tennessee Lady Volunteers’ Rickea Jackson, among others.

The WNBA Draft is scheduled on April 16 and Clark is expected to go first. It remains to be seen whether the Indiana Fever will select her as the top rookie and how she will fare as a pro in the coming months.
