Thursday's social-media sphere was briefly taken over by Caitlin Clark.
This time, however, it wasn't for another record broken or high-profile endorsement deal, but an intimate tribute to her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery.
Clark, a breakout WNBA star, and McCaffery, a former basketball player and assistant coach, met at the University of Iowa in 2023.
"Another year with my favorite person :) I'm so thankful for you ," Clark captioned a pair of photos: one on-court embrace after a Fever game, the other a candid hug in a low-key setting.
Many fans were quick to react to the post, including one of Clark's former Iowa teammates, Gabbie Marshall.
"CUTEST EVERRR!!!!!!" said Marshall.
Marshall, a Cincinnati-born guard, starred at Mount Notre Dame High School (two state titles, three-time all-state) in Ohio before becoming a steady contributor and eventual leader for Iowa from 2019-2024.
She shot 39.2% from three in her Hawkeyes career, was voted team captain for her final season and helped lead Iowa to back-to-back national title games in 2023 and 2024, alongside Clark.
Marshall then opted to move away from basketball to pursue graduate studies.
Clark’s post arrives in the wake of a historic rookie campaign.
As the Fever’s first-overall pick, she shattered franchise records for points (769), minutes (1,416) and 3-pointers (122), led the league in assists and earned WNBA Rookie of the Year and All-WNBA First Team honors.
McCaffery, meanwhile, has been there for every milestone, from her winning back-to-back John R. Wooden awards to breaking the WNBA's all-time assists record.
