If there were still any doubts about the legitimacy of the star of Iowa Hawkeyes sharpshooter Caitlin Clark, those should have already been squashed the moment ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith pressed send to post this message on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter).
Yo! @CaitlinClark22 is OFFICIAL! She is putting on an absolute show. 37 points 9-of-18 shooting from 3-point range. @LSU does not have an answer for her. Not Reese. Not Johnson. Not Mulkey. Not anyone.#LordHaveMercy
Obviously, the Iowa-LSU Tigers game was not yet over when Smith shared that message to his followers on X, but it was already clear at that time how big of a thorn Clark was in the side of the Tigers.
Clark finished the outing with an incredible output of 41 points on 13/29 shooting from the field. She did way more than just get buckets, as she also dished out 12 assists, pulled down seven boards, and had two steals plus a block in 40 minutes of time inside the court.
As huge of a star Clark has become, she may just be getting started. She’s got plenty of years ahead of her. However, she can’t afford to look past the Final Four round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Waiting for her and the Hawkeyes in the national semifinals round are the UConn Huskies, who just defeated JuJu Watkins and the USC Trojans, also on Monday night.
