USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins is keeping her eyes on the big prize this 2024-25 college basketball season.
While Watkins is making the most of the NIL system, as highlighted by her recent endorsement deal with insurance brand State Farm, it doesn't mean she's not focusing on the important task at hand.
Speaking with Athlon Sports while promoting her latest NIL deal, the 19-year-old guard emphasized that she's determined to bring a silverware to California.
"I think the goal is to win a championship and bring hardware back to SC," Watkins said in our exclusive interview.
"I think that's always my goal, and it's really the biggest goal."
Sure enough, JuJu Watkins understands that it's a bold goal and it won't be easy. The former Sierra Canyon star is only in her sophomore season, and while she's already one of the best players in women's college basketball today, she knows she still has a lot of things to improve in her game.
There's also the fact that the USC women's basketball team is still learning to play alongside each other. The Trojans' roster has seven freshmen, along with a new running mate for Watkins in former Stanford star Kiki Iriafen.
That being said, Watkins admitted that the Trojans, as a team, are currently learning to play alongside each other.
"But yeah, continuing to play to the best of my abilities and then getting to know my teammates more on the court," Watkins added when asked about her goals with USC women's basketball.
"It's such a fresh team, so [I'm] really working to understand where my teammates like the ball and stuff like that."
JuJu Watkins, however, is confident that the Trojans are poised for a big season.
"It'll definitely be a great season and we'll continue to build off the previous progress we made last year. Yeah, it should be a great season, so I'm excited," she added.
It remains to be seen how far USC can go this 2024-25 season. Sure enough, though, Watkins will play a big role in their bid to win the title.
