LSU Tigers’ Angel Reese Drops Truth Bomb on Relationship With Caitlin Clark
Zach Boyden-Holmes / USA TODAY NETWORK

When talking about the Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark rivalry, many would assume that they hate each other. After what happened in last year’s NCAA Tournament national championship between the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes, the belief that they don’t like each other has been only further fueled.

However, ahead of their Elite Eight meeting, Reese set the record straight on her relationship with Clark.

LSU Tigers’ Angel Reese Speaks on Caitlin Clark

Speaking to reporters on Saturday after helping the Tigers book their ticket to the Elite Eight, Reese was asked about her rivalry with Clark and made sure to emphasize that they have a good relationship off the court.

Sure, they may be heated rivals whenever they play against each other. But as Reese pointed out, it’s “not personal.”

Once we get out between those lines, if I see you walking down the street, it’s like, ‘Hey, girl, what’s up? Let’s hang out.’ I think people just take it like we hate each other. Me and Caitlin Clark don’t hate each other. I want everybody to understand that,” Reese shared, per ESPN.

“It’s just a super-competitive game. Once I get between those lines, there’s no friends. I’m going to talk trash to you. I’m going to do whatever it takes to get in your head the whole entire game, but after the game, we can kick it. I don’t think people really realize that.”

Reese also acknowledged the fact that she’s the villain in the heralded Clark story. But she’s fine with it. After all, she knows very well that what they are doing is good for women’s sport.

“That’s fine. I’ll take the villain role. I’ll take the hit for it, but I know we’re growing women’s basketball. If this is the way we’re going to do it, then this is the way we’re going to do it. You either like it or you don’t,” Reese furthered.

Caitlin Clark Excited for Showdown With LSU Tigers, Angel Reese

For what it’s worth, Caitlin Clark indicated herself that she has no bad blood with Angel Reese. After taking down the Colorado Buffaloes to secure an Elite Eight berth, she talked about the LSU Tigers and shared her appreciation on how they are growing women’s basketball.

“It’s so good for women’s basketball. To be honest I watched a lot of LSU games, and what they’re doing for women’s basketball and the way their fans support them is tremendous,” Clark said of LSU, via TSN.

“It’s been fun to watch, and they’ve had a great season, so I know it’s going to be a great game. Both teams are gonna be ready to go. And it’s just gonna be great for our game, and you know, we couldn’t be more excited.”

When Reese and Clark step foot on the court on Monday, they’ll play their usual roles and add more fuel to their rivalry. But after that, expect nothing but respect from both incredible women.
