LSU Tigers: Kim Mulkey Reveals Who’s To Blame for Ugly Skirmish in SEC Championship

What should have been a great SEC Championship match between the LSU Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks was instead marred by a skirmish in the fourth quarter. After the game, Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey sounded off on who really needs to be blamed for the incident.

The scuffle started when Gamecocks star MiLaysia Fulwiley stole the ball from LSU’s Flau’Jae Johnson, who later on was called for a foul. As the clock was stopped, Johnson showed Ashlyn Watkins after she celebrated the referee’s call on her.

This led Cardoso to come over and push Johnson away, leading players from both teams to start shoving as well. While the skirmish was happening, coaches from their respective teams tried to break the two sides apart.

The said incident delayed the game for around 19 minutes. At that time, the Gamecocks were in the lead with a score of 73-66. By the end of the game, the South Carolina won over LSU with a score of 79-72.

LSU Tigers’ Kim Mulkey Tells Who’s To Blame For SEC Championship Skirmish

After the game, LSU Tigers head coach spoke to the media and shared her mind about what happened during the fourth quarter skirmish. SportsTalk Media Network posted what she said on X:

“LSU’s Kim Mulkey: Do you realize there had been only 1 foul called when there were 2 minutes left? The way we play? We’re going to foul your ass. They’re (#Gamecocks) going to foul your ass. You only blew the whistle one time? That might have created some of that,” the head coach said.

Just recently, Cardoso issued an apology of her own on X. According to the Gamecocks center, she takes full responsibility for her actions and deeply regrets her part in the said incident.

With that win, South Carolina moves on to the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, the Tigers will have to spend the remainder of the season watching the Gamecocks compete and contend against other college teams.
