One of the top quarterbacks from the FCS ranks could be following his head coach to a new college football program.

South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal in a message to ESPN on Sunday morning.

"South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski tells ESPN that he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. He’s also strongly considering entering the NFL draft, and the portal entry is a way for him to weigh all of his options. He went 49-6 and threw more than 10,000 yards," ESPN's Pete Thamel said.

Gronkowski and the Jackrabbits fell to the North Dakota State Bison in the semifinals of the FCS playoffs last weekend not long later, head coach Jimmy Rogers revealed the star quarterback had been dealing with an injury during the game.

“Mark (Gronowski)’s been dealing with a lot with his arm,” Rogers said in the postgame press conference, via the Argus Leader. “Playing this game, you wouldn't notice it. I didn't want to show it that he was hurt.”

Despite the injury, Gronowski finished the game with 204 passing yards and completed 14 of his 25 passes. He ended the season tied with North Dakota State quarterback Easton Stick for all-time FCS quarterback wins - but he might not break the record even though he has one season left.

Gronowski could choose to follow Rogers, who left South Dakota State for the Washington State opening after the team's FCS playoff loss. The Wildcats recently lost start quarterback John Mateer to Oklahoma, opening the door for Gronowski...should he choose that route.
