A recent Auburn University graduate was killed in the New Year's Eve attack in New Orleans.

Auburn University President Christopher B. Roberts confirmed Thursday that Drew Dauphin died after a driver rammed a pickup truck into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street.

"On behalf of Auburn University, I send my sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of 2023 graduate Drew Dauphin who was taken from us in the New Orleans terror attack," Roberts said in a statement. "Words cannot convey the sorrow the Auburn Family feels for Drew’s family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time. Our thoughts are with the Dauphin family and the families of all the victims of this senseless tragedy."

According to his LinkedIn profile, Dauphin graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. He worked for American Honda Motor Company Inc. as a supplier process engineer for over a year.

The FBI identified the suspect as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran from Texas. They found an ISIS flag and other weapons inside the vehicle.

On Thursday, Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia called the attack a premeditated "act of terrorism." They haven't uncovered evidence that anyone else was involved.

Kareem Badawi, a University of Alabama student, was among those killed in New Orleans. He started his freshman year in August after graduating from high school in Baton Rouge.

Tiger Belch, a former Princeton football player, also died in the attack. TCU wide receiver Jack Bech mourned his brother's passing on social media.

"Love you always brother!" Jack Bech wrote. "You inspired me everyday now you get to be with me in every moment. I got this family T, don't worry. This is for us."

Another former Princeton football player, Ryan Quigley, remains hospitalized after getting injured in the attack. Friends created a GoFundMe page to support the Belch and Quigley families.

Georgia University confirmed that a student was critically injured in the attack. Georgia will play Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday at the Superdome.

Our condolences go out to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.
