Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports on all of the top prospects at every position in this year's class.

Here's everything you need to know about Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. heading into the 2025 draft:

Vitals

Height: 6-4

Weight: 320

Age: 21

Strengths

Banks is an impressive athlete with a ton of starting experience as a three-year mainstay at left tackle for the Longhorns. He moves extremely well as both a run-blocker and in pass protection, firing out of his stance and quickly getting to his target to open holes for the running back, or locking into his pass sets before the opposing rusher arrives. His clean footwork and effective hand usage allow his top and bottom halves to work well in tandem without losing his balance, and his experience shows through with his patience and intelligence with how he reacts to a wide range of pass-rushing moves and counters. His ability to get out on the move and lead the way in space is a huge asset.

Weaknesses

He’s not the most consistent finisher in this year’s tackle class, as he can struggle to maintain the same level of control on his blocks toward the end of the play as he does closer to the snap. Banks doesn’t appear to have ideal arm length for a tackle, which can lead to struggles with sustaining downfield blocks in the run game and beating long-arm moves from pass rushers who bring a bigger wingspan to the table. More often than not, he relies on more of a finesse game when power is required.

Final Analysis

A bit of a tweener, Banks is a polished pass protector with the athleticism to be a valuable blocker in the run game, but his lack of length and brute strength could leave him in no-man’s land between what an NFL tackle and guard need to do best. For some teams, he’ll be able to stick on the outside with the hopes that his athleticism will mitigate his shortcomings, while other clubs might slide him inside and bank on improved play strength to make him a more effective interior blocker. The physical tools are there, but a clear-cut plan needs to be in place for where he starts.
