2026 College Baseball Recap: LSU, Wake Forest Fell in Weekday Action

For several of the power schools across Division I, April 7 was not a good day. LSU lost another game at home to a non-power school, while the Florida State Seminoles took another loss at the hands of the Florida Gators. However, the top-ranked schools continued to tick.

SEC recap

Texas defeated UIW 16-4. Carson Tinney and Ethan Mendoza each hit home runs for the Longhorns.

Alabama defeated Samford 16-2.

Three runs in the seventh inning pushed Texas State to a 9-8 victory over Texas A&M.

LSU fell to Bethune-Cookman on April 7. Jake Brown hit a home run but five runs in the seventh inning helped the Wildcats push ahead of the Gators.

Arkansas shut out Little Rock 7-0.

Jacksonville State improved to 28-6 with a 15-4 victory over Auburn.

Florida defeated Florida State again, this time by a 4-3 victory. Karson Bowen drove in what was the game-winning run in the fifth inning.

Kentucky defeated cross-state rival Louisville 4-2 in a non-conference game.

Georgia put up 28 runs over Presbyterian. Tre Phelps hit one of five home runs for the Bulldogs.

ACC recap

Boston College beat Massachusetts 11-1. Nick Wang, Jack Toomey, and Carter Hendrickson each had two hits for the Eagles.

James Madison defeated Virginia 8-7 in extras.

Kent Schmidt hit two home runs for Georgia Tech, who won 11-4 over Kennesaw State.

Liberty defeated Virginia Tech 11-4. Infielder Tanner Marsh had three hits for Liberty in the victory.

UNC defeated Charlotte 8-4. Gavin Gallaher had two hits and two RBI for the Tar Heels.

Wake Forest lost to Coastal Carolina in a neutral-site matchup in Durham.

East Carolina defeated Duke 8-4.

Big 12 recap

Kansas took down Nebraska 5-3.

Arizona State defeated Grand Canyon 12-8. Landon Hairston hit a home run for the Sun Devils, as did PJ Moutzourdis.

Oklahoma State fell to Oral Roberts 10-9.

TCU lost on the road to Abilene Christian 4-1.

Other notes

USC lost to Santa Barbara 5-1.

UCLA improved to 30-2 with a 7-3 victory over Cal State Fullerton.
