The Alabama Crimson Tide has put itself in a strong position for one of the nation's top tight ends. Mack Sutter, a four-star prospect from the 2026 class, is down to four schools in his recruitment, and the Crimson Tide is one.
They will have to compete with some top schools, with Sutter revealing that he will choose between his home state program, the Illinois Fighting Illini, the National Champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and fellow SEC rivals, the Ole Miss Rebels.
The 6-foot-6, 225-pound will announce his decision on June 26, with an official visit to Tuscaloosa planned for June 20, after a visit to Illinois with his brother on June 18.
Sutter is one of the top-ranked tight ends, sitting at No. 6, while he is ranked the No. 2 player in Illinois, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. They also have him in their top 100, ranked No. 99.
Before announcing his final four, Sutter was expected to take an official visit to the Penn State Nittany Lions. However, he canceled, focusing on his final two visits before making his decision. It does not always make a big difference, but the fact that Kalen DeBoer and his staff have Sutter on campus a week before his commitment date could be a deciding factor in this case.
Alabama has experienced a slow period of commitments over the past few months. However, considerable work has been done in the background. It has led to several commits, including several five-star recruits trending to the program. Can they add to their one commit in June with more?

It's officially prediction season in the college football world. Fans and analysts are chomping at the bit, waiting for their beloved sport and their annual Saturday traditions to return. For many Texas Longhorns fans, this upcoming season will be the one that returns them to their rightful place, holding up that national championship trophy at the end of the season. In a gauntlet of an SEC schedule, though, even getting to the college football playoffs, for the third year in a row, won't be a cake walk. Many have started their predictions of the Longhorns' schedule, trying to dissect what Arch Manning will do for the offense this year. J.D. Pickell, an On3 analyst, gave his full prediction for how Steve Sarkisian's regular-season record will finish. A Loss To a Rival Pickell predicts the Texas Longhorns will finish the regular season with an 11-1 record, with their sole loss coming to their rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners, in the annual Red River Rivalry. With the only loss he accounts for being the Sooners, that means the On3 expert predicts Steve Sarkisian's team will take care of business on the road against Ohio State, Florida, and Georgia, their three most challenging road games on the 2025 schedule. His reasoning for the record prediction is that Pickell believes Steve Sarkisian has a good offense, as evidenced by the lack of transfer portal additions on that side of the ball. He also says: "Texas will have the best defense in the country, their are names that aren't clocking with people that will clock during the season. Why? Because Sark has proved that he is a builder... There will not be any drop off on that side [defense] of the ball. " All Eyes on Arch Manning While everyone gives Arch lofty expectations going into the season, Pickell is not one of them. "If Texas is going to make good on what Vegas thinks they are capable of doing, which is winning the national championship, Arch does not need to be the guy, from week one game one." J.D. expands on that, saying he needs steady progress. For Texas fans, this might be hard to bear, but it is reasonable. Arch doesn't need to come out of the gates hot, but needs to build a confidence level that allows him to grow into the player that the coaching staff, and fans expect him to be. When it comes to playoff time, and all twelve teams are loaded with talent, the same way the Texas Longhorns are, that's when the steady increase that Arch has shown all season will come into play. For Manning, the playoffs are where he will shine, but for the regular season, an 11-1 record, with the talent surrounding him, is definitely on the table.
The New York Rangers are adding to their forward depth ahead of their upcoming training camp. The Rangers are entering a new chapter of their organization under new head coach Mike Sullivan. After missing the postseason last year, the organization is trying to rebound and respond accordingly in 2025 and 2026. Former Stanley Cup champion forward Conor Sheary is the latest player to join the new-look Rangers. The veteran forward agreed to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the club and will look to earn an NHL deal with his performance in training camp and the preseason. Sheary is a veteran of 593 NHL games. Originally an undrafted free agent, he signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins after completing his collegiate career. Following a year with the Penguins' AHL affiliate, he forced his way onto the NHL squad after posting 36 points in his first 30 games of the 2015-2016 season at the AHL level. His debut NHL season went better than ever expected, and he was a key part of the Penguins' lineup that won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017. Sheary's coach at the time, both at the AHL and NHL levels, was Mike Sullivan. Now, he'll get the chance to reunite with the coach under whom he won two championships. In addition to playing for the Penguins, Sheary has played for three other NHL franchises. The Pens dealt him to the Buffalo Sabres before the 2018-2019 campaign, but he would return to Pittsburgh the following season at the trade deadline. After his second stint with the Penguins, he joined the Washington Capitals. He played three seasons in Washington, D.C. before landing with the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he spent the past two years. Over his 593 career games, he's compiled 124 goals and 143 assists for 267 points. His best NHL season came during the 2016-2017 campaign, his second in the league. He scored 23 goals and added 30 assists for 53 points in 61 regular-season games.
The Dallas Cowboys got one step closer to regular season form by wearing pads for the first time in training camp. Below are some of the main takeaways from Sunday's practice in Oxnard, California, starting off with a couple of notes on rookies. Jaydon Blue's skills translate with pads on Blue was turning heads early in camp but it's always hard to tell the difference between a tackle or a big play when defenders are essentially playing tag instead of hitting players. Well, Blue looked promising even in pads, with the play below being the highlight of the day as he jukes Markquese Bell to break free for the extra yardage. The fifth-round rookie also showed off his speed as a receiver more than once. Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders are seeing the most playing time with the starters but Blue is off to a great start. Tyler Booker stacks highlights vs. Osa Odighizuwa It was a good day for the Cowboys' first-round rookie and projected starting right guard Tyler Booker. The play that stood out the most was a reach block on Osa Odighizuwa that sent the defensive lineman to the ground, opening a hole for Javonte Williams. ln a play-action play, Booker joined forces with center Cooper Beebe to take Odighizuwa out of the play. After a double block sent the defender to the ground, Booker blocked Odighizuwa with fully-extended arms to keep him away from Dak Prescott. Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said ahead of practice that Booker had hit a bit of a wall leading to him working with the second-team the day before. He sure bounced back. Cowboys showing off a jumbo package Schottenheimer and offensive coordinator Klayton Adams have said the Cowboys will run a physical offense. In short yardage situations, that might mean running six offensive lineman onto the field. Asim Richards and Saahdiq Charles have both been used as a sixth OL/TE at practice. Below is a play where Charles even motions from one side to the OL to the other. The personnel grouping below includes fullback Hunter Luepke leading the way for the running back. Terence Steele participates in pads Earlier in training camp, right tackle Terence Steele suffered an ankle sprain that knocked him out of practice, raising concern for his availability moving forward. That concern is turning out to be short-lived. Steele was back Sunday, a major development for the first practice in pads. However, he didn't participate in team drills. Even so, the Cowboys appear to have dodged a major bullet as the injury was a high ankle sprain, which can be a headache for players. Steele wore tape on his ankle Sunday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are still looking for a solution to their bottom-six surplus, and veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok remains at the center of trade discussions. However, according to The Fourth Period, trade talks surrounding the 33-year-old winger have failed to gain momentum. They write: “He has a $2.1M cap hit and owns a 10-team no-trade list. The market hasn’t been vibrant, to this point, but the Leafs will continue to dangle him.” Why can’t the Maple Leafs find a taker for Jarnkrok? Jarnkrok has quietly been on the trade block for much of the offseason, but general manager Brad Treliving has yet to find a taker. After adding several depth forwards this summer, the Leafs now face a crowded bottom six — and Jarnkrok’s age, injury history and $2.1M cap hit through 2025–26 aren’t helping his value. Since joining Toronto, Jarnkrok has appeared in only 71 games over two seasons, scoring a modest 28 points. While his defensive versatility and penalty-killing ability are assets, his declining offensive production and durability concerns have made teams wary. With training camp approaching, the Maple Leafs may be forced to keep Jarnkrok on the roster — or retain salary in a deal — if they want to create space and flexibility. Dropping his cap hit down to just over $1M would open up the market a little. Until then, the Swedish forward remains a trade candidate in limbo. This isn’t great news as moving Jarnkrok from the roster is an important item on the team’s to-do list. Treliving would like more cap space, and with Jarnkrok and David Kampf both still on the roster, it hampers the GM’s ability to do other things.
