The Wisconsin Badgers have added a key 2028 visitor for the game this weekend against the Iowa Hawkeyes, who are equally as banged up at the moment.
Wisconsin has been limping through another season without the starting quarterback after Billy Edwards Jr. went down with an apparent knee injury against Miami (OH). Even aside from the quarterback going down, Wisconsin has been missing starting center Jake Renfro, starting safety Preston Zachman, and key players such as Tucker Ashcraft and Kevin Heywood.
Despite the injuries, the Badgers have no time left to waste time on excuses and things not going according to plan. Wisconsin needs to win, and with an excellent recruit added to the already stacked visitor list, now might be the best time for the team to do so.
Julian Taylor, a 2028 running back from Cass Technical (MI), will be in the stands in Madison as the Badgers take on the Hawkeyes. Taylor is considered to be the early top favorite at running back for Wisconsin and has been treated as such throughout his recruitment. The talented running back has a handful of offers and Wisconsin was the last program to extend an offer to Taylor in January.
Kent State, Louisville, Miami (OH), and Pittsburgh have also extended scholarship offers to the running back with the RedHawks being the first program to do so.
While there is still plenty of time to recruit the 2028 class and plenty that will change, Taylor is a special running back. Wisconsin hopes that early attention will result in a strong relationship with the recruit moving forward as some bigger offers come through.
One particular offer that has not been extended but certainly will change things would be from the Michigan State Spartans. The Spartans have been one of the closest programs to Taylor and additionally have been a program that has eyes on top in-state talent. Michigan State has had a renewed push in the 2027 and 2028 classes to secure the best recruits Michigan has to offer, and Taylor is an early target for the staff.
Michigan would be another offer that could potentially change the recruitment of Taylor, but without any substantial contact at the moment, exactly how the offer would change the process is unclear.
Taylor will be in attendance for the game against the Iowa Hawkeyes which is a good moment for the staff to showcase what Madison has to offer. The game-day environment will certainly be great, but the result on the field is still a major question mark. Hopefully Wisconsin is able to put together a solid offensive performance on the ground to impress the recruit during his visit.
