The NCAA transfer portal is in full swing as the postseason gets under way in college football, and one of the most experienced transfer quarterbacks has found his next home.
Incarnate Word transfer Zach Calzada is on the move again ahead of his seventh and final season. Ranked as the No. 16 quarterback in the transfer portal (247Sports), Calzada passed for 3,719 yards with 35 touchdowns to nine interceptions in 2024.
The 24-year old also added 332 yards with five touchdowns on the ground for the Cardinals, who went 11-3 and reached the quarterfinals in the FCS Playoffs.
According to an announcement from Calzada on Thursday, he will spend his final collegiate season at Kentucky under head coach Mark Stoops.
Calzada has been a journeyman since signing with Texas A&M as a three-star recruit in the 2019 class. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound passer started 10 games for the Aggies in 2021, including a major upset win over then No. 1 Alabama.
The Buford, Georgia, native transferred to Auburn for the 2022 season and did not see the field for the Tigers. Calzada then transferred to Incarnate Word in 2023 and led the Cardinals for the last two seasons.

Kentucky's quarterback situation was shaky in 2024, as the Wildcats finished 4-8 and missed a bowl bid for the first time since 2015. Georgia transfer Brock Vandagriff was benched for freshman Cutter Boley for the last three games, creating questions for 2025 and beyond.
While it's unclear if Calzada will earn the starting role for next season, he has shown flashes of ability throughout his lengthy career. He has amassed 8,660 yards with 73 touchdowns to 28 interceptions, while adding 380 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
Kentucky will open the 2025 season at home against Toledo on Aug. 30.
