The college football transfer portal has been flooded with hundreds of names since it officially opened to all players on Dec. 9.
However, there have also been players who, because of their graduation status, were able to enter earlier. One of the more notable players who actually entered his name into the portal back on Dec. 2 was UAB quarterback and sixth-year senior, Jacob Zeno.
The former four-star recruit started his career at Baylor in 2019 before spending the past three seasons at UAB. Following the 2024 season, which saw him play just four games before suffering an injury, Zeno was granted a seventh year of eligibility.
After taking a trip to College Station on Monday, Zeno announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Tuesday via On3's Hayes Fawcett.
Throughout his career, Zeno has thrown for 4,948 yards with 32 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. His best season came in 2023, which saw him throw for 3,126 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine picks. That was the only season of his career that saw him throw over 1,000 yards.
According to 247Sports, Zeno ranked as the No. 22 quarterback, and the No. 127 overall player in the portal.
Zeno will provide a veteran presence to a quarterback room headlined by current redshirt freshman Marcel Reed after he took over for former five-star Conner Weigman, who is in the transfer portal.
