464-Pound Florida Gators Prospect Could Make NFL Draft History
Doug Engle/Gainesville Sun

The 2025 NFL draft is right around the corner and is set to begin with the first round on April 24. While there are many different players to keep an eye on, one story to watch has to do with Florida Gators defensive tackle Desmond Watson.

Watson is a massive human being. He also has a chance to make draft history.

Standing in at 6-foot-6 and 464 pounds, he has turned the heads of any college football fan that has seen him on the field for Florida. He also showed off his strength at the NFL combine with 36 bench press reps at 225 pounds.

How can Watson make draft history? He could become the heaviest player ever drafted.

That record has been held by offensive linemen Trent Brown and Daniel Faalele in 2015 and 2022 respectively.

Fellow Gators' defensive lineman Cam Jackson spoke out about his teammate, sharing his belief that an NFL team will give Watson a chance.

"He's working to get the weight down," Jackson said. "I feel like a team is going to take a shot on him. If I was them, I would. You don't find too many nose tackles moving like him. Dez is a big, disruptive guy, and he puts in the work."

Watson ended the 2024 season with 20 tackles and a defended pass. In his career at Florida, Watson did record 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble as well.

Billy Napier, the Gators' head coach, also spoke out about his defensive lineman.

“Des is a unicorn. You'll go the rest of your career; you'll never be around a guy of that stature,” Napier said. “Once you get to know Des, he’s extremely intelligent, got a great sense of humor.”

Idaho State vs UNLV Prediction, Pick, Odds for Saturday, August 23

The Idaho State Bengals take on the UNLV Rebels in college football Week 0 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on the Mountain West Network. UNLV is favored by -26.5 points on the spread with a moneyline of -5000. The total is set at 65.5 points. Here are my Idaho State vs. UNLV predictions and college football picks for Saturday, August 23. Idaho State vs. UNLV Pick: Over 65.5 or Better My UNLV vs. Idaho State best bet is on the Over. Find the best line available on our live NCAAF odds page. Idaho State vs UNLV Odds Idaho State vs UNLV point spread: UNLV -26.5 (-110 ), Idaho State +26.5 (-110) Idaho State vs UNLV over/under: 65.5 (-112o / -108u) Idaho State vs UNLV moneyline: Idaho State +1800, UNLV -5000 First-year UNLV head coach Dan Mullen will bring in a highly sophisticated offensive system. We’ll likely see him use a quarterback in the running game, either Alex Orji or Anthony Colandrea, alongside running back Jai’Den Thomas, who popped off last season for 918 yards at six yards per carry. I fully expect the aptly named Runnin’ Rebels to be humming on the ground this week. Idaho State ranked 121st nationally among FCS teams in total rush defense last season, surrendering over 250 yards per game at over five yards per carry. Even worse, the Bengals lost all five defensive linemen from last year’s squad, so they’re going through a complete rebuild. The Rebels also need to run their stuff deep into the second half on Saturday, as they need to see what they have at receiver while generating some continuity in the passing game with both transfer quarterbacks. They’ll be passing deep into the game against an Idaho State secondary that struggled last season (63% completion allowed, 19 touchdowns allowed to only three interceptions). Another little wrinkle for UNLV’s game plan: The Rebels need to focus on cleaning up their dreadful red-zone offense from last season (21 red-zone field goals, 14 empty red-zone possessions). If they concentrate on red-zone execution, it’ll increase the scoring. On the other end of the field, I’m reasonably high on Idaho State’s offense. Jordan Cooke returns at quarterback after putting together a dynamic 2023 (2200 passing yards, 22 touchdowns). Unfortunately, he was hurt for most of last season, but he should be healthy for Week 0. Additionally, four of the teams’ top six receivers from last season return, and they added transfer portal receivers from Baylor, UTEP, and Utah State, who should add some explosiveness. UNLV defensive coordinator Paul Guenther runs an aggressive, blitz-heavy pressure defense. But that could be feast-or-famine for the Rebels against a pass-heavy Bengals offense. Idaho State might create some big plays or turn the ball over and allow short fields for the UNLV offense. The Rebels need to use this game to scout their offense. Idaho State loves to throw the ball around, and the Bengals have a horrific defense. We should see plenty of points on Saturday in Vegas. Pick: Over 65.5 or Better

Green Bay Packers: Luke Musgrave’s Wife’s Stunned Reaction to Jordan Love’s Wife’s Personal Post

The Green Bay Packers are about to kick off their 2025 NFL regular season, so it feels like a good time for some of the players to look back at some of the key moments and experiences they’ve had in the offseason. For quarterback Jordan Love and tight end Luke Musgrave, the 2025 NFL offseason will always be one that they’ll cherish — and not just because of anything that’s football-related. Love and Musgrave both got married to their respective longtime girlfriends in the offseason. The signal-caller tied the knot with Ronika Stone in June, while Musgrave and Madi Weisner exchanged vows in July. Ronika Stone’s wedding lookback gets Green Bay tight end’s wife’s reactions Mrs. Love recently shared a post on Instagram that shows a series of snapshots from her wedding with the Packers’ signal caller. “Every detail was SPECTACULAR ,” Ronika wrote as a caption for the post. She clearly is still awed by how her wedding looked that day, with several beautiful flower arrangements adorning the special day. Ronika’s post drew plenty of comments, including one from Mrs. Musgrave, who wrote “UNREAL.” It’s great to see Packers players’ wives showing support for each other just as Love and Musgrave do on the field. For Musgrave, he is looking to have a big rebound in 2025 after only appearing in seven games and coming up with 45 receiving yards with zero touchdowns and only a couple of first downs on seven receptions and 10 targets. The Packers, who will play the Seattle Seahawks at home this Saturday for both teams’ 2025 NFL preseason finale, will face the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field in Week 1 of the 2025 regular season.

Dallas Stars lock up one of the league's best players with massive extension today in hockey history

The Dallas Stars have had many defining moments in their history, but few symbolize loyalty and leadership like Mike Modano's contract extension in the early 2000s. On August 21, 2003, the Stars officially locked up their franchise icon with an extension that cemented his role as the face of hockey in Texas. The move wasn't just about keeping a superstar forward, it was about keeping the identity of the Stars firmly tied to one of the most respected players in the game. Mike Modano's extension showed his loyalty and lasting impact on the Dallas Stars At the time, speculation lingered about whether Modano might test the waters elsewhere. Instead, he reaffirmed his commitment to Dallas, the franchise that had drafted him first overall back in 1988 when they were still the Minnesota North Stars. "This team, this city, it means everything to me. Staying here was the only choice that felt right," Modano said during the press conference announcing the deal. Those words resonated with fans, as his decision represented stability during an era when star players often left in search of bigger contracts. The extension also ensured that Modano would continue climbing the NHL record books in a Stars uniform. He went on to become the all-time American-born leader in goals and points, a record that defined his Hall of Fame career. Looking back, the August 21 signing stands as a cornerstone moment in Dallas Stars history. I think it was one of the smartest moves the franchise ever made, keeping Modano in green not only secured wins on the ice but also preserved a legacy that still inspires players today.

Incarnate Word vs Nicholls Prediction, Pick, Odds for Saturday, August 23

The Incarnate Word Cardinals take on the Nicholls Colonels on Saturday, August 23, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Incarnate Word comes in as a 13.5-point favorite in this contest with a total set at 51.5. This is a major start to the season for both teams in a top-heavy Southland Conference that will be highly contested. Here’s my Incarnate Word vs. Nicholls predictions and college football picks for Saturday, August 23, 2025. Incarnate Word vs Nicholls Pick: Nicholls +13.5 or Better My Incarnate Word vs. Nicholls best bet is on the Colonels to cover the spread. Find the best line available on our live NCAAF odds page. Incarnate Word vs Nicholls Odds Incarnate Word comes in the cream of the crop in the Southland this season after winning the league last season and advancing to the second round of the FCS Playoffs. Third-year head coach Clint Killough has turned UIW into a consistent winner fueled by dynamic offensive output, and 2024 was no different. Led by quarterback Zach Calzada and three electric wide receivers, the UIW offense averaged 39 points per game in conference play while also finding consistency in the running game. Calzada departs this season, as does FCS All-American wide receiver Roy Alexander. For the first time in the Killough tenure, there’s not a superstar player commanding the offense. Local product Richard Torres won the quarterback battle in fall camp, beating out EJ Colson and Deyon Batiste, who both transferred in from FBS. Torres does have a bit of experience under center for the Cardinals, throwing for 64 yards with a touchdown and an interception a season ago. The leading rusher from last season, Dekalon Taylor, departs along with three all-conference starters along the offensive line. Overall, four starters return. This UIW offense should find itself atop the Southland Conference once again, but there could be some growing pains with new personnel. Defensively, the Cardinals return five starters and seven of their top 14 tacklers overall, although the linebacker room is in need of some transfers to step up after the departures of Mister Williams, Darius Sanders and Tylan Foster. The defensive line loses two of its top pass rushers, and I would guess we see a drop this season in both rushing yards allowed and Havoc created by this unit. The secondary sees both of their starting safeties leave, but the cornerback positions are shored up, and UIW did make effective use of the portal to bring in some talent. Nicholls comes in after a disappointing 4-8 season in 2024 that saw long-tenured head coach Tim Rebowe retire at the end of the season, and defensive coordinator Tommy Rybacki was internally promoted to head coach. The offense sputtered in 2024 due to inconsistent quarterback play and its inability to stay on the field with third-down conversions. The Colonels bring in Deuce Hogan — who has previous stops at Iowa, Kentucky and New Mexico State — to lead the offense this season and return productive running back Miquele Brock. The receiver room is talented, and the offensive line returns four players who started games last year for the Colonels, so the pieces are there for improvement on this side of the ball. The Colonels’ stop unit was the strength of the team last season. This group ranked in the top third in Southland Conference play in most defensive performance metrics. Nicholls allowed just 2.9 yards per carry on the ground last season and gave up just 287 yards per game in league play. It finished sixth in FCS, allowing just 29% conversions on third down, and was excellent in the red zone, allowing touchdowns on just 54% of trips. Nine starters return along the defensive line, including Rasheed Lovelace and Alex Villavaso. The secondary has experience, and I would expect solid pass coverage from this group once again this season. I fully expect a solid performance here from the Nicholls defense in this game. This unit gave Southland Conference opponents fits last year with its pass rush and how well it held up against the run. UIW sees significant talent depart offensively and will also see Killough call the plays this year, as Conner McQueen (OC, QB coach in 2024) is off to the Las Vegas Raiders. With UIW breaking in a new quarterback and working the kinks out along the offensive line, I don’t anticipate a powerful offensive performance on the road against an upper-tier SLC defense. Nicholls will create some unique looks and make life tough on Torres. The Nicholls offense has some experience along the offensive line and at running back, while Hogan can take advantage of a weaker pass rush and inexperienced safeties. Pick: Nicholls +13.5 or Better
