The Big 12 has had large amounts of movement around the conference and some of the most significant incoming transfers in college football. Now that Texas and Oklahoma have left for the SEC and the current Big 12 has had time to adapt, the conference is wide open. Let’s dive into some of the most impactful transfers joining the Big 12.

QB Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State

After an amazing freshman year at North Texas, Mestemaker makes his move to Oklahoma State to continue and develop. Mestemaker totaled 4,379 passing yards, 34 passing touchdowns and just nine interceptions for the Mean Green in 2025.

Mestemaker uses elite pocket awareness and accuracy to make huge plays for his team. With the movement of former North Texas head coach Eric Morris to Oklahoma State, Mestemaker will continue to develop with a familiar system around him.

RB Caleb Hawkins, Oklahoma State

Coming alongside Mestemaker, Hawkins followed Morris to Oklahoma State after an incredible freshman season at North Texas. Hawkins picked up 29 total touchdowns and 1,804 scrimmage yards on 263 touches in his 2025 season.

Joining Oklahoma State is an amazing way to continue his career after an incredible season with Mestemaker under the scheme of Morris.

WR Omarion Miller, Arizona State

Miller had a breakout junior season for the Colorado Buffaloes and joined the amazing offensive mind that is head coach Kenny Dillingham. Miller totaled 805 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 45 catches in his 2025 season. He is an amazing addition to the Sun Devils after the loss of star QB Sam Leavitt.

QB DJ Lagway, Baylor

Lagway had an incredibly difficult first two seasons with the Florida Gators. He totaled 4,179 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and 29 turnovers with the Gators. Looking at these stats, you notice the problem, turnovers. Baylor has snagged him up to hopefully let him bloom and become the QB he was hyped up to be as a prospect.

While Lagway has shown great potential, consistency has been the biggest issue. Moving forward into a new system with Baylor, he hopes to see change and show consistency in his junior year.

DL Mateen Ibirogba, Texas Tech

Texas Tech had an incredible defense last season but have lost many of their best players due to eligibility and the NFL Draft. Picking up Ibirogba, the best defensive tackle that entered the transfer portal, is an amazing start to helping this defense bounce back. He is a disruptive run defender and has incredible power weighing almost 300 pounds. He adds a much-needed upgrade to a Texas Tech defense that has lost lots of talent and will be a force for the Red Raider defense.

Final Thoughts

The Big 12 continues to reload with elite talent, and these transfers could play a major role in shaping the conference race this season. With new systems, fresh opportunities and high expectations, each of these players has a chance to make an immediate impact on their new teams.
