There were several offensive players who became big NFL Draft risers in Week 4 with standout performances. Here are five offensive NFL Draft risers who boosted their draft stock in Week 4.
There has been some inconsistent play from many of the potential first-round quarterbacks in the draft, which has allowed Fernando Mendoza to be one of the standouts in the group early on. Against No. 9 Illinois, Mendoza had five touchdown passes with just two incompletions in a game where he led his offense to 63 points against a defense that entered the game allowing less than 10 points per game. Mendoza leads the entire country in passing touchdowns with 14, along with zero interceptions, and the second-highest completion percentage and passer rating in the country so far. Mendoza is continuing to increase his odds of being a first-round quarterback and maybe even giving himself a chance to be QB1 in the draft class.
In a game where Indiana beat a top-10-ranked team by 53 points, there were many standout performers, and Elijah Sarratt joins his teammate, Mendoza, as one of the top NFL Draft risers from Week 4. Sarratt consistently got open all game, bringing in a game-leading nine receptions for 92 yards. He also showed the ability to consistently make plays in the red zone, bringing in two touchdown receptions as well, the second time this season he has had multiple touchdowns. Through four weeks, Sarratt currently ranks in the top-20 in receptions and is tied for the second most receiving touchdowns with five.
Eric McAlister has not been an NFL Draft prospect with a ton of buzz up to this point, but it is hard to ignore the huge statement performance he had against SMU. Against the Mustangs, McAlister was making plays all game with eight receptions for 254 yards and three touchdowns. One of McAlister’s three touchdowns came on a huge 70-yard reception on a 3rd-and-5 while trailing in the fourth quarter, where he broke two tackles and outran the defense to the endzone for the go-ahead score. McAlister is a big-framed receiver standing 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds with great speed. If McAlister continues to have impressive performances, he is an under-the-radar prospect with the potential to significantly boost his draft stock.
Robert Henry Jr. has consistently dominated defenses on the ground this season, turning in 140-plus rushing yard games like clockwork. Henry Jr. started the season with 177 rushing yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M, and he has not slowed down since that performance. In fact, his 144-yard and one-touchdown performance in Week 4 against Colorado State is statistically the least impressive performance of the season for him so far. He currently leads the entire country with 624 rushing yards and is tied for second with seven rushing touchdowns. He also once again showed his big-play ability in Week 4 with a 70-plus yard run for the fourth week in a row. Although Henry Jr. was not a top draft prospect coming into the season, he did enter the season as a Shrine Bowl 1000 prospect, and his strong start to the season has only further elevated his draft stock.
Logan Jones led a strong offensive line performance by Iowa against Rutgers, where the Hawkeyes dominated the Scarlet Knights on the ground for 160 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 38 attempts. Jones earned PFF Big Ten Team of the Week honors along with three other Iowa offensive linemen, and currently ranks as the second-highest-rated center in the country, according to PFF. He is an experienced lineman who shines in the run game and possesses great athletic ability. Jones is currently projected to be a fourth to fifth-round draft pick, but if he continues to build on his impressive start to the season, he could increase his chances to go on Day 2 of the draft.
