The Texas Tech Red Raiders signed a very promising young wideout for the 2024 cycle in five-star wideout recruit Micah Hudson.
The Temple, Texas, native missed most of the offseason program while he recovered from a knee injury, which denied him time to climb up the depth chart in a crowded receiver room.
Hudson found himself behind the efficient Caleb Douglas, who finished the regular season second on the team with 55 catches and 762 yards and tied for the team lead with six touchdowns.
There was simply no room for Hudson on the field in 2024 and he saw limited playing time. He posted just eight catches and 123 yards with no touchdowns.
Looking for a new home, Hudson hit the transfer portal when it opened on Dec. 9.
Clutchpoints recently speculated on the top five possible landing spots for Hudson, with some impressive teams in the SEC in the mix.
The media outlet named the Texas A&M Aggies, Oregon Ducks, Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers and Colorado Buffalos as the most suitable destinations for the transfer.
The Aggies offered Hudson out of high school, and they're hot on his trail again. He'd be a potentially good fit for quarterback Marcel Reed, who was a four-star recruit from 2023. On3's Pete Nakos and Steve Wilfong both predict him to land in College Station.
Oregon is a program that historically loves five-star recruits. Per 247Sports, Oregon was high on Hudson in high school and they'd love to add some wideout depth for 2025.
The Longhorns lost out on Hudson to the Red Raiders, and coach Steve Sarkisian loves to groom young wide receivers. Johntay Cook has entered the portal, so there's a need there too.
LSU has a history of All-American wideout talent, and Hudson could thrive there. With the return of quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, it could be an appealing spot for the transfer.
The Buffaloes are already known as an aggressive transfer portal team, and Coach Prime loves speedy wideouts. Colorado just got a commitment from prized five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, and that could make the Buffs high on Hudson's radar.
