Alabama DC Pete Golding arrested on DUI charge

Alabama defensive coordinator Stephen Thomas "Pete" Golding was arrested early Thursday morning on a DUI charge and was placed in Tuscaloosa County Jail, according to multiple reports.

Per Carol Robinson and Michael Casagrande of al.com, Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said the arrest was made at 1:00 a.m. in Northport, Ala., and no additional details were being released. As of late Thursday morning, Golding remained in the county jail.

The 37-year-old started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater (Delta State) in 2006, before serving as the defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach at Tusculum College from 2007 to 2009. Golding then returned to Delta State and held the defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach role again, this time in 2010 and 2011.

Golding was the defensive coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana over the next two seasons and the defensive backs coach at Southern Mississippi in 2014 and 2015. Golding's final gig before joining the Crimson Tide was as the defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban hired Golding as the program's defensive assistant for the 2018 campaign, before he was promoted to the defensive coordinator position for the last three years.
