In 2025, the Miami Dolphins finished 7-10 and missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year. That was enough for the team to part ways with head coach Mike McDaniel.
Ahead of the 2026 offseason, Miami is tweaking its roster. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Dolphins are releasing veteran edge-rusher Bradley Chubb.
The 29-year-old played nearly three seasons for the Dolphins and appeared in 41 games.
Now, the two-time Pro Bowler is set to become a free agent ahead of his ninth season.

In his two full seasons with the Dolphins (2023 & 2025), Chubb has 20 sacks, 8 FF, and 117 tackles. He should have a nice market. pic.twitter.com/u19NEaBZV9
In the 2018 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos used the fifth overall pick to select Chubb out of North Carolina State. Chubb was with the team for nearly five seasons before it traded him to the Dolphins in 2022. The veteran pass-rusher missed the entire 2024 season due to a torn ACL.
Chubb bounced back nicely in 2025, starting all 17 games for Miami and recording 8.5 sacks. For the 2026 season, Chubb was set to have a $31.2 million cap hit.
Bradley Chubb had a $31.2M cap number for 2026. Miami will save $7.3M in cap space while taking on $23.8M in dead money by moving on from Chubb, who had 8.5 sacks last year. https://t.co/11Tomesza3

By releasing the two-time Pro Bowler, the Dolphins will save $7.3 million in cap space. They will also take on $23.8 million in dead money from Chubb's former contract. Miami is clearly moving in a different direction, and Chubb was not part of that future.
