Alabama football’s defense gradually improved in 2024 under the Crimson Tide’s first-year defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.
The Tide’s defensive leaders want to capitalize on the momentum Alabama built towards the end of last season with more players familiar with Wommack’s 4-2-5 defensive scheme.
Alabama’s defensive tackle, Tim Keenan III told reporters he wants the Tide to be dominant in the upcoming season at SEC Media Days.
“Just overall dominance,” Keenan said when asked what difference he wanted to see from Alabama in 2025. “Just to play to not past the whistle but play to the whistle, just overall beating, overall winning the whole game. Just taking it to the next man the best we can, as hard as we can.”
The Tide’s linebacker, Deontae Lawson feels more familiarity with the Wommack defense will pay huge dividends for Alabama.
“I think we all just have to be bought in,” Lawson said. “I think that started right when the bowl game ended, and we just all had to come together. I think being year one and Coach Wo’s system, we had our bumps and bruises that we had to go through throughout the season. We just have to get more reps. I think as the season progressed, we were able to get better from it. I’m very excited for our defense this year. I feel like we have more guys that knows Coach Wo’s system, and we know the scheme. Now, it’s all about honing in on what the offense do, so we’re able to anticipate.”
Alabama’s defense is expected to be one of college football’s best in 2025.
