Alabama kicker bouncing back from rough patch in fall camp
Will McLelland-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama football’s kicker, Conor Talty had what Kalen DeBoer describes as his best practice in recent weeks on Wednesday.

Talty is expected to be the Crimson Tide’s starting kicker.

The Chicago, Illinois native hit a bit of a rough patch during fall camp when he missed multiple field goals in the Tide’ s second scrimmage. He has bounced back from that performance, per DeBoer.

“Yesterday was his best day, probably in a week and a half,” DeBoer said. “And again here in the practice field, done a nice job. So, we got to make sure that just translates over to our own stadium, and we’ll keep working on that. But he had a really good day yesterday. Got back to where I feel like he was hitting, was going where he wanted, and had good distance. We challenged him with a distance kick that we actually probably thought he’d would make the uprights, and he was. He was halfway up the uprights on it. So, did a nice job there.”

Alabama fans know all too well the impact the kicking game could have on a season. After not attempting many field goals last season with Graham Nicholson, the Tide can not depend on that being the case in 2025.
