Alabama linebacker, Deontae Lawson likes what he is able to do as a linebacker in Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 defensive scheme.
Lawson is returning to the Crimson Tide after suffering a season-ending injury against Oklahoma in the tenth game of the season. He would go on to miss the last three games of the 2024 college football season.
However, the Mobile product did finish the season with 76 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions. This production is why Lawson enjoyed his first season with Wommack as his defensive coordinator.
“One thing I took was just how much the linebackers produce in that defense,” Lawson said. “The production me and Jihaad (Campbell) had last year, it was just crazy to see coming coach Saban’s defense, where you got the safeties making all the big plays and all the production. But now you got coach Wommack 4-2-5 scheme, where the linebackers have the most production. A guy like me love that.”
Campbell led Alabama in tackles in 2024 with 119 tackles and five sacks.
