Alabama Receives Clear Message From Elite 5-Star EDGE Ahead of Decision Date

The Alabama Crimson Tide has already put together an impressive 2026 recruiting class, holding 19 commitments, including five five stars, which is the most of any program.

They're still in the mix for a few more, such as EDGE Anthony Jones out of Mobile, Alabama, who on July 3 named his top three schools: the Crimson Tide, the Texas A&M Aggies and the Oregon Ducks.

All three are impressive programs, but while talking to On3's Hayes Fawcett on Friday, Jones was asked about which team has "separated themselves from the pack,” and his answer was clear.

“I would say Alabama,” Jones said. “For me, they started behind everyone because of the new staff. But they’ve been very consistent with me, day by day. They aren’t pressuring me for a commitment, they’re very genuine and do a great job of that.”

That's certainly something coach Kalen DeBoer will be glad to hear, as Jones has proven to be a talented player. Last season for St. Paul's Episcopal, he accumulated 84 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.

On3 ranks Jones as a five-star player, the No. 3 EDGE, the No. 2 player in Alabama and the No. 20 player in the nation.

Of the three programs still standing, the Crimson Tide have been one of the most active in the recruiting process, having 10 visits with Jones. The Aggies have had three visits with him while the Ducks have had two.

It will remain to be seen who comes out on top, though, with Fawcett also reporting that the pass rusher will make his decision by the end of July or early August.
