This won't be the last time Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams receives national recognition during his collegiate career.
After racking up nearly 850 receiving yards as a true freshman, the 17-year-old Williams recently was awarded with his fifth All-American honor following a spectacular rookie season.
On Tuesday, Williams was named to the Football Writer's Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American team.
In addition to the recent news, Williams also received All-American honors as a freshman from On3, Pro Football Focus, and 247 Sports, along with second-team nods from the Associated Press.
Regarded as one of college football’s most explosive pass-catchers, Williams adds his name to a prestigious list of standout wide receivers who’ve played in Tuscaloosa, including Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Calvin Ridley, and Jaylen Waddle
According to 247Sports, Williams initially pledged to Alabama as the nation's third-ranked wide receiver and fourth-ranked overall player. He was rated as a five-star recruit across all major recruiting platforms.
Under NFL Draft rules, players must be at least three years removed from high school and have exhausted their college eligibility before the start of the next football season, which happens to be fantastic news for the football program. With just one year of college experience, Williams is poised to be a dynamic force in the Crimson Tide's passing game for years to come.
