Alabama football’s quarterback Ty Simpson continues to get rave reviews for his efficiency and for his ability to extend plays with his feet.
Simpson was recently named the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback after competing for the position throughout the summer and fall camp.
The former five-star is coming off a highly efficient scrimmage. Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb< /a> said Simpson was 12-of-15 with two of his incompletions being drops on Saturday. This is a very good sign for the first-year starter.
Along with his efficiency, Simpson’s ability to make plays outside of the pocket when he is keeping plays alive continues to be a talking point.
Alabama’s wide receiver, Germie Bernard feels this part of Simpson’s game allows him to create plays wideouts dream about.
“It just creates more opportunities for us,” Bernard said. “When broken plays happen and you have a QB that’s mobile, can get out of the pocket, but still deliver a ball, like, I mean, that’s so mething that we dream for, a broken play because a defender, they can’t guard for that long. So, it makes it tough for them.”
The veteran wideout went on to detail what makes Simpson a good runner of the football.
“He makes people miss,” Bernard told reporters. “He’s fast. He can get in a zone. I don’t really know how to describe it, but he’s explosive with the ball in his hands.”
Simpson’s running ability might be one of the most talked-about parts of his game if he performs the way Alabama players and coaches have described during fall camp.
