He knows how to build the confidence of his program, even if it comes to the extent of trolling an in-state rival.

Alex Golesh is serious about making Auburn University a competitor in college football.

He wants to coach the Tigers to a College Football Playoff National Championship, yet he understands it has to consistently take down the best team in the state. Golesh mentioned the importance of the Iron Bowl in the Auburn community and throughout the state, so he dedicated a practice period this spring to focus his players to lock in on the target of the Crimson Tide.

Golesh appeared in Wednesday’s segment of SEC Now with former Auburn standout and analyst, Cole Cubelic.

Cubelic is all for the ‘Iron Bowl’ practice period, but Greg McElroy is not.

Golesh took an opportunity to troll the former Alabama quarterback in the segment.

“Well if Greg had all the answers he would be on the show with you guys, but he is not,” Golesh said to Cubelic.

McElroy was a quarterback for Alabama from 2006 to 2010, winning two Iron Bowl matchups over the Tigers in five years.

Golesh took advantage of a fun moment, but the rivalry matchup with him in it should be entertaining for years to come.

He is intentional about his process.
