Auburn quarterback Cam Newton believes the Tigers are the little brother to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Newton hopped on the Pardon My Take podcast to discuss aspects of both his college and NFL careers, and at one point when discussing Auburn made the claim that the Tigers are the "little brother" to Alabama football.

“Yeah, we won, but everybody knows Auburn is like the little brother to Alabama,” Newton said.

Newton continued talking about his time at Auburn, almost complaining about the mindset of Tiger fans when he arrived on campus.

"Since day one, being on campus it was like 'but we almost beat Alabama!'" Newton said. "I'm like, man, (expletive), this (expletive) is always to beat the (expletive), it ain't to compete, its to beat."

And beat, Auburn did. The Tigers went on to finish the season undefeated, an unblemished 14-0, winning the national championship against Oregon.

Newton said things didn't really start to pick up until the win over South Carolina.

"I no longer could go to class," Newton said. "It was just a zoo. I just remember that people were just so blown away by the fact that 'Auburn is winning? they've always had a good defense, but its the offense.'"

"Man, I made an impact, I just threw a quick jab and got the hell out of there," Newton said.
