WVU fans are used to learning which uniform combination the Mountaineers will wear the week of a game. But when it comes to how West Virginia will look at the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Garrett Greene helped let the cat out of the bag on Sunday night.

In the middle of a Charles Wesley Godwin concert in Morgantown, Greene appeared on stage to reveal the uniform WVU will wear in Charlotte against North Carolina on Dec. 27.

Greene and his teammates will bring back the Country Roads style uniform they wore in the Backyard Brawl win over Pitt. Initially, no one would have guessed the person on stage wearing a WVU uniform was Greene. The jersey was number 14, not Greene’s number 6.

Greene eventually revealed himself to a loud ovation. Neal Brown was also in attendance at the concert, but did not take part in the uniform reveal.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl pits the 8-4 (6-3) Mountaineers out of the Big 12 against the ACC’s 8-4 (4-4) Tar Heels. Oddsmakers have West Virginia as the favorite to win the game.

The 2023 Duke’s Mayo Bowl marks the 40th bowl appearance for West Virginia, with North Carolina now the opponent in three of those 40 contests. The only matchups between WVU and UNC throughout history have been bowl games.

Kickoff for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl is scheduled for 5:30 pm ET.
