Analyst Names Obvious Jaxson Dart Landing Spot After Major QB Injury

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has seen his stock rise and fall more than any college prospect ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. When his final season with the Rebels ended, many felt comfortable slotting him in as a day-two selection, but in the months that followed, he rose as high as the No. 3 pick in some mock drafts.

There is still no consensus on where exactly Dart will land in the draft, but one analyst suggested that there is an obvious landing spot for him after a recent injury development. Todd McShay commented  that Dart should be taken by the New Orleans Saints after they learned that franchise quarterback Derek Carr might miss the season due to injury.

New Orleans currently holds the No. 9, No. 40 and No. 71 picks in this year's draft, but Dart will likely be off the board before the first round is over. That would mean that the Saints need to select him in the top 10 or potentially grab him in a trade-back scenario.

Dart has all the makings of a franchise quarterback in the NFL, as he completed 69.3% of his passes last season for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also showcased his ability to be a dual-threat, adding 495 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

While the exact details of Carr's injury are not entirely clear, the Saints make sense for a player like Dart. There, he could learn under legendary Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore, who is now the head coach in New Orleans. Wherever Dart ends up, that team will be fortunate that they took a shot on Ole Miss' best player under center since Eli Manning.
