Another Minnesota Golden Gophers standout is headed to Mobile, Alabama for a college all-star showcase in a couple of months.
The Senior Bowl confirmed that defensive lineman Jah Joyner has accepted his invite to the annual event, which is one of the top showcases for college football players leading up to the NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Joyner tallied a career-high 32 tackles and seven pass deflections across 11 games this season while also adding 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.
Over his career, he's totaled 66 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 9 pass deflections and 4 forced fumbles.
According to Pro Football Focus, Joyner has generated 31 pressures this season, which is tied for 12th-most among all defensive linemen in the Big Ten, and his 12.1% pass-rush win rate is in the top-25 among qualified Big Ten defensive linemen. He's also tallied 14 stops — tackles that constitute a "failure" for the offense.
Joyner becomes at least the fifth Gopher to accept an invite to a college all-star game and second to head to the Senior Bowl, joining offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery.
The Senior Bowl will be held on Feb. 1. We'll see if more Gophers join those or other showcases in the coming weeks.
