Another Texas A&M WR Suffers Injury in Spring Practice

Early in spring practice, Texas A&M wide receiver Asthon Bethel-Roman went down with an injury as well and didn't return on March 26.

Additionally, wide receiver Jerome Myles has been working his way back after missing all of his freshman year this past season due to injury.

Fortunately, these two and Bussey appear to be fine moving forward, as there hasn't been any major injury update from Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko.

Bussey, who is switching from the No. 2 jersey to No. 6 for the upcoming season, entered his freshman year in 2024 with some notable expectations after being a versatile five-star recruit in high school.

He turned in a solid freshman season with 17 catches for 216 yards along with 16 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns, but his production surprisingly dipped a bit this past season.

Bussey finished 2025 with 18 catches for 195 yard and a touchdown but only had one carry for one yard. He saw an increase in usage on kickoffs, fielding 18 kicks for 421 yards. He nearly had a clutch kickoff return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter during the win over Notre Dame, but the score was called back due to a holding penalty.

The week prior, Bussey had his best game of the year against Utah State, posting season-best numbers in catches (four) and receiving yards (55) along with catching a 34-yard touchdown. However, his impact was not felt throughout SEC play.

Bussey's quiet 2025 season was due in large part to the emergence of Bethel-Roman behind KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, who represented arguably the best wide receiver duo in the SEC last season.

With Craver and Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton now set to lead the way this fall, Bussey will once again have to prove himself on the depth chart.
