Anthony Richardson 'crushing' pre-draft interviews

Potential top-10 pick QB Anthony Richardson from Florida has drawn considerable interest in recent weeks, and the ex-Gator is impressing teams at the NFL Scouting Combine.

On "NFL Live" Thursday, ESPN's Matt Miller reported that every scout he spoke to that interviewed Richardson called him the "best QB interview" in the draft process. At least 10 teams have formally met with Richardson.

The high praise and sudden rise in draft stock should be no surprise. It's not uncommon for teams to fall for raw talents based on their performance at the combine, and few have the physical traits that Richardson possesses.

As teams become acquainted with the signal-caller, they'll care less about his abysmal career completion percentage (54.7%) and focus more on utilizing his strong arm and elite rushing abilities. Richardson threw for 2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns last season while rushing for 654 yards and nine scores.

Depending on how he fares in his remaining interviews, Richardson might be in the running to be the first overall pick. If he's not, there's at least one team drafting in the top 10 hoping to select him.

During an earlier "NFL Live" appearance, Miller revealed that Carolina, owner of the ninth overall pick, is "all in" on him. The analyst notes that Carolina feels confident its new staff will be able to maximize his potential.

"The athleticism is there. The arm strength is there," Miller said. "And you hear that this offensive staff, led by Frank Reich, they believe they can develop a quarterback with guys like Jim Caldwell, Thomas Brown, who they bring in from the L.A. Rams. So, you're going to do a lot of vertical things down the field."

Carolina could be the perfect landing spot, as it may opt to start a veteran QB to begin next season, which would benefit Richardson. Per David Newton of ESPN, the Panthers are interested in free agent Derek Carr and have discussed a reunion with Sam Darnold, who started six games last season.

Although he's excelling in his interviews, Richardson can continue to boost his stock with a strong performance during Saturday's QB drills.
