Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning promised wide receiver Ryan Wingo he would visit his teammate's hometown in St. Louis this summer. Manning said he would show up for St. Louis University High School’s football camp, which Wingo attended when he was a young boy.

Manning, 21, honored the commitment on June 14 by attending the event alongside fellow Longhorns Colin Simmons, DeAndre Moore Jr. and Aaron Butler. Furthermore, the community in Wingo’s hometown in St. Louis likes to support each other heavily by attending any event in the neighborhood, a fact Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian shared with Manning before the camp.

“I was telling him about the home visit I did at Ryan Wingo’s house and Ryan’s got an awesome family again like the families tell us a lot but when I’m telling you went into this home visit, the whole neighborhood was in Wingo’s house and it wasn’t the summertime now we’re in the winter,” Sarkisian said during a recent episode of the “3rd and Longhorn” podcast.

“Everybody’s in this house, man, and [Wingo’s dad] Ronnie is cooking, and we had a blast. I said [to Manning], ‘You’re going to Wingo’s? Get ready, the whole neighborhood is coming.'”

Following his coach’s warning, Manning was shocked to learn that it was completely true. He texted Sarkisian after the event finished and wrote, “You weren’t kidding, man; his family runs deep.”

Meanwhile, the community in Wingo’s hometown couldn’t be happier to have Manning visit, as multiple photos were posted on social media of the Texas quarterback with some of the neighborhood’s children.
