Texas quarterback Arch Manning recently underwent a foot procedure, but it’s nothing for Longhorns fans to worry about.
Arch Manning’s roller-coaster 2025 season ended with a 41-27 victory over the Michigan Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl. Two weeks earlier, Manning announced that he was returning to Texas for 2026, opting not to declare for the NFL Draft just yet.
Per ESPN, the Longhorns announced that Manning had a “minor” foot procedure this week.
Though he’ll miss some of their offseason workouts, they expect him to be back for spring practices. The school said Manning’s surgery was a “preventative measure to address a previous injury.”
The Longhorns will kick off their 2026 season at home against the Texas State Bobcats, with a can’t-miss game against Ohio State the following week.
With Quinn Ewers entering the NFL Draft last year, Manning became the Longhorns’ starting quarterback for 2025. Being part of the legendary Manning football family, perhaps expectations were unfairly high for Arch this season.
He wasn’t terrible by any means. But many expected better from Arch, who was previously considered a front-runner to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. He threw for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
Those aren’t bad numbers, but certainly not what many fans and scouts expected. Thus, it’s safe to say that Arch made the right decision to commit to Texas for another year. If he goes off in 2026, he could join uncles Eli and Peyton Manning in the first-overall pick club.
